“Desert Power”
Have you seen “Dune?” If you haven’t, grow up. Also, you been to Vegas?? Really need to grow up if you haven’t done that one. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of regret, lack of sense or the constant bad decisions that make me love Sin City so much. Sure I like to throw a $20 in a shiny machine like every other guy, but to be honest gambling is the least of my concerns when I’m out there. I think the thing that really draws me to the city is the culture and the people. One thing you should know about me before we continue, I’m a people watcher. Like an extreme one. And what better place to get enjoyment out of watching random humans make hilariously bad decisions?! Honestly tho, the thing that really draws me to the city is the “I don’t care what you think” attitude. Doesn’t matter who you are or where your from, out there your just another body in the crowd. Another person from some place, with a story to tell and a reason for being there. Everyone’s reason is different too. I think mine is to capture the cool lights and to show other people’s stories.
Las Vegas is one of, if not my favorite city in the country, but I can’t just give credit to that city alone for how good I feel when I’m out there. I’m sure myself, like hopefully everyone, has that one special place where they just feel a different kind of energy or sense of purpose the more they are there. The more I sit and think about it, I think the desert is one of those places for me. And the reason for that is the beautiful simplicity that is the desert. It’s hot, sunny, dry, and sometimes boring as hell to look at. At the same time tho, there is a deeper layer there. One of nature, colors, life, and aesthetic that can only be appreciated the more you get into it. I haven’t been out there anywhere near as much as I would like to, but every single time I come back with a new perspective. Whether that perspective have something to do with myself, relationships, or how life works, it always comes back to art. And at the base of it, that’s what the desert is to me. Art.
