Everyday Beauty.
Been a while since I have sat down and written one of these… A lot has happened since then. But most of that is stuff for another time. The main thing I wanna talk about is the switch that has happened within my photography style during that time. There have been many different changes in “my style” over the years. I started as someone shooting landscapes who thought that Lightroom and these different editing apps were the devil, simply because they allowed you to change your moment to something different. Rookie mistake for sure. But I really thought that capturing the purest moment and sharing that was what was most important. Now looking back on it, that was the only part of my mentality that stuck. Fast forward and my style has switched from landscapes to portraits then completely away from people and back around again. Now, I would say it is a healthy mixture of everything. Maybe not everything, but everything that sparked my interest before. And the thing that I’m most proud of is keeping my original thought process, while losing the young ignorance that came with it. Capturing the purest moment doesn’t come down to editing or not editing. All it really comes down to is living in that moment and trying to share that through your images. And seeing how my journey has progressed, it’s safe to say I would have no portfolio if I didn’t appreciate the post production side of things.
The main point of this big ramble, is to show that there is significant beauty in the everyday. Moments that I used to pass by as if they were not important. Times, places or people to who I could not see, or recognize a deeper beauty. Moments that now, I will drop everything I am doing at the time to capture. I guess this is kind of a letter to my past self, to say appreciate every moment. Don’t try to put a limit on your creativity, or knock anyone doing things different than you. Lastly, find beauty in whatever you can. It is everywhere you look, all the time, if you can find it wherever you are. Here are some of the everyday images that have helped me realize that.
